Jumoke Academy

Teach at our Schools

For more than two decades, Jumoke Academy has provided a high-quality, college-and-career-ready education for scholars from mostly under-served neighborhoods in the Hartford community.  Research shows that the greatest impact on student achievement is the quality of instruction.  Jumoke’s teachers are talented and committed to our mission. Our teachers all have the opportunity to work elsewhere for higher salaries but remain at Jumoke because a difference is being made in the lives of our scholars.

Each year Jumoke Academy revisits our curriculum guides to ensure that the activities and learning targets are aligned with the Common Core State Standards and the Next Generations State Standards. Our curricula guides are developed to ensure that each scholar, regardless of learning style or proficiency level can participate in their learning and strive for academic excellence. We continue to adopt curricular resources that are able to adapt to the needs of our scholars.

Non-Instructional Roles

Professional Development

Professional Development is provided not only for certified teachers, but also non-certified staff to strengthen their capacity. Providing non-certified staff (Academic Assistants) with professional development allows the Academy the ability to provide our scholars consistency in their learning when they are filling in for teachers. The staff at Jumoke Academy participates in ongoing professional development throughout the year. Our academic calendar is developed with monthly early release days to provide time for staff to participate in professional development when scholars are dismissed early. Staff are also encouraged to participate in independent professional development opportunities based on their professional needs.
